  3. I hate this I came here cause of the stories I kept coming because it wasn’t like Facebook. Now you change everything and I can’t even log in using my same info anymore Login was Arina Password you should have in your records I get the invaild when I enter what I had and I know I am not the one that forgot what it was. Plus I don’t see the recent stories that were posted I wish you would go back to the old style and quit trying to copy so many other sites I like different not the same look and feel every place I go.

  6. Calm down younguns! The site had a server harrd drive failure. This page is just a place marker until they get the server fixed. You wil be able to log in and do all the things you could before. Nothing has changed except a piece of equipment failed.

Also those that are complaining just read what it says that this is a TEMPORARY page just to keep us updated.

    As mentioned in a blog several days ago, Big Closet had a hard drive which was failing.

    It was explained that there would be a number of hours involved in saving all the stories, coordinating with the people who host the equipment and all the sites involved, replacement of the hard drive, format of the hard drive, setup of the programs which made Big Closet – well, Big Closet, and then reinstating all the stories to the new drive.

    There is so much use that Big Closet seems to lose a hard drive roughly every ten months, or so I think I have noted. That is the reason there is a donation fund for a new server. It’s an effort to try to come up with better equipment which will help reduce the number of down times. ( my own thoughts here and not something that the Big Closet team have said.) Donations not just to the hatbox (day to day operating fund from which the hosting agency and others are paid ie day to day bills) but to the server fund are IMPORTANT.

Please keep in mind folks that proper backups, getting the new hard drive set up and all the up-to-date stories and other information transferred to that new drive takes time and a lot of work. Let’ be patient and rather than wondering when the site will be back, look forward to when it is.

    Everyone please understand. Hard drives DO fail and it takes time to replace them and all the programming that goes into them to make them work. Erin, Piper and everyone else who helps admin Top Shelf are working very hard, without pay, I should add, to get everything up and running again.

    Patience is a virtue. Be virtuous, everybody… and thank Erin and everybody else for all their hard work.

  18. Thank you for all the hard work you put in on this site, and thank you to all the great authors that post their stories. I have seen some good story sites disappear or stop being updated over the years and am saddened each time this happens.

  31. I’m sorry for the site being down but I understand these things happen. Thanks for the wonderful entertainment you do provide free of charge to the many of us who read here regularly. It is a labor of love on your part.
    As for the ones who are wining about the site being down, pay some to the cause and accept that these ladies are doing a tremendous job with little gain.

  35. For the latest outage, click on the blog link, and the information will be on that page. This is just a general placeholder page for all BC outages.

    (For example, the downtime related to this post is due to a corrupt database resulting from hardware failure.)

I have tried to be very patient about the server going down but it has been this way for about 3 maybe four days now and it is getting tiresome seeing that we are still waiting I respect that one of the other sites that share the server could have knocked this offline but this long it makes me feel as if nothing is being done I know I don’t contribute any money to the cat but I do contribute to the authors that have ebooks out there as I have bought a few when I had recieved gift cards to use to get there stories in ebook form even if I have read it here on the site. So I would like it if you can get the site up and running again as soon as possible please.

  38. The site is being worked on as much as is humanly possible. We had a huge data failure and it takes time to fix things.

As a former IT manager and member of a UK IT regional planning group I can appreciate both the amount of work required and the shoestring budget with which Erin Piper and the team have to manage. Stick with it guys and gals we all await the results of your labours but we know Data base salvager can be a case of “how long is a piece of string” when it comes to timescales.
    So as another BC addict hugs and best wishes to an overworked and on occasions definitely under appreciated team.

  47. Keep up the good work guys, I know its hard work rebuilding Databases when they bonk out like that, I’ve never had to do recover a database like that, but I’ve heard of the problems it is.
